Wedding Day Ceremonies

Baraat & Milni (1:00pm EST)

Amit and his family and friends will gather outside the mandir and proceed (with music and dancing) to the entrance of the mandir. The Baraat will be followed by the Milni Ceremony, which is a formal introduction of the families.

Marriage Ceremony (1:30pm EST)

  • We will all join together in the mandir hall for a traditional Hindu sacrament of matrimony, the Vivaha Samskara. You can download a detailed wedding program here.

Afternoon Reception and Doli (3:00pm EST)

Please join us for food, chai and desserts, followed by our cake-cutting and Doli (departure ceremony).

Zoom Zoom

For our friends and family not joining in person, we will begin a Zoom stream at 1pm EST
(starting with the bhangra, of course).

What to Wear?

We don't have a dress code per se; while we'll be wearing more traditional Indian dress, we'd suggest keeping things festive and comfortable. Think cocktail attire (but without the cocktails), bold colors, prints, accessories and whatever else you think is fit for an afternoon celebration and picture-taking. One thing to note - shoes are not allowed in the main hall of the temple where the ceremony will be held. So, be sure to bring a pair of socks (do check them for holes).
